BroadwayWorld's Student Center High School Edition is back for another year! Just like the BWW College Center, the High School Center offers a directory featuring upcoming show listings for high schools nationwide. Schools can register for 'enhanced' listings on the site - adding in photos, cast lists, videos, links and more. Productions that take advantage of this will receive highlights on our listing pages, extra editorial mentions and potential spotlight features.

This week, we feature the students and faculty of the Fine Arts Department of South High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota!

The Department of Fine Arts at South High offers students courses and opportunities in music, theater and visual arts.

The South High Theater Program includes the production of classics from Shakespeare to musicals, and student-written and directed one-act plays. Senior directed full-length works complete a program for students interested in acting, directing, writing, administrating, designing, or crewing.

South High Theater is a diverse, energetic, artistically motivated program that has captured the imaginations of thousands of viewers over the years. Ours is an educational theater, serving students from all our Small Learning Communities and from all age groups: freshmen through seniors. South High Theater traditionally offers seven big productions, making it easily the most prolific school theater in the Twin Cities and one of the busiest theaters of any kind: amateur or professional.

Offerings include Shakespeare, dramas, original plays, and our famous South High musicals, which attract audiences in the thousands. South High Theater is lead by a student governing body, and by an Artistic Director and an adult Technical Director, who provide professional artistic leadership, motivation, and inspiration.

The South High Music program, a recipient of many awards, is dedicated to helping students grow in their musical ability and knowledge. South’s ensembles strive to perform at the highest level possible so they may share their talents and music with others. South music directors believe there is great opportunity to learn skills that will help students become better people and continue performing and enjoying music well beyond high school.

The Theater department will present DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE starting October 30 thru November 2. The production will be directed by Senior student Emmet Kowler. Up next will be Joseph Kesselring's ARSENIC AND OLD LACE helmed by Senior student Brianna McCurry and and running on December 12 and 14. For tickets and more information, click here.
